{Tutorial: Step by Step}

Please read carefully and do as the flowing:
Suppose you are having 2 USB miners work at the same time; And your operating environment is:
  • OS: windows 7 laptop
  • AntMiner U1: 2 pics inserted in a usb-hub
  • Usb-Hub: 4 port 12V/2.5A usb 3.0 usb-hub
  • Dissipation: a small usb fan(4.0 inch)
Please download the software package needed first(It’s a .zip file, please click “file → download” to download it): https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-_jcpU1s5dgOFRwQTBDUzd0RDA/edit?usp=sharing

Tutorial Start:

  1. Set up the driver “CP210x_VCP_Windows”(For 32bit OS, please install “CP210xVCPInstaller_x86.exe”; for 64bit OS, please install “CP210xVCPInstaller_x64.exe”).
  2. Insert the 2 USB miners, and remember which ports you are using.
  3. If it shows up “setting up the driver”, please wait it to finish.
  4. Run the zadig_v2.0.1.162.exe
  5. Choose "Options--->List all drivers", and then in the pull-down list (as shown in Picture 1(see below)), there are 2 "CP2102 USB to UART Bridge Controller", click each one and click "Replace Driver". (If it doesn't show "Replace Driver, it shows "Reinstall Driver"(as in picture 2(see below)), that means this USB miner is working normally, you do not need to click)
  6. Then close zadig, pull out the USB miners
  7. Insert the USB miners again, and please note: insert in the same ports as before.
  8. Run the zadig_v2.0.1.162.exe againcheck the pull-down list, see if both of the 2 "CP2102 USB to UART Bridge Controller" shows “Reinstall Driver”. If it still shows “Replace Driverplease repeat step 5-7.
  9. Run the cgminer again

Then it should be working, like the picture3(see below) showing.

And please note:
  1. Please be aware that the power supply of your usb port on your computer might not be powerful enough to allow several miners working at the same time; the mining software might fail recognizing some of the miners. Therefore, in that case, we recommond you to use a usb hub with external power supply to optimize the efficiency of the mining. We recommond you a 4-port usb 3.0 hub with a 12V/2.5A power supply. (check it out: http://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/Usb-btc-miner-use-usb-hub-10-port-usb3-0-hub/1035615_1596479492.html)
  2. If you change the ports to insert the USB, you have to do the whole above procedure all over again.
  3. This is a link showing the settings, you can look at for reference: http://miningonmyown.com/2014/01/04/usb-antminer-u1/
  4. Make sure the miners run in a cool environment(You may need a small usb fan for dissipation).

{Others for reference}

  1. User Guide: Please download the user guide of the AntMiner U1 1.66 GH/s usb miner(PDF file): https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-_jcpU1s5dgVWtKeFAwWVlfZlk/edit?usp=sharing
  2. Software Package: We have zipped all the file needed together, please download it here(it is a zip file, please select option file --> download to download it): https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-_jcpU1s5dgOFRwQTBDUzd0RDA/edit?usp=sharing Please unzip it to your computer after you download it.
  3. Start mining: After you prepared everyting(such as the install the diriver etc.), please open the bat file: cgminer-run-windows-20131224\cgminer-run\run.bat  in the unzipped folder with notepad, and set the pool address, pool port, your mining worker, the minging worker's passcode and so on to the appropriate ones, and then double click the bat.
  4. OverClock: see the “user guide” which has a part "Overclocking Guideline" which clearly states that. And another article for reference: http://miningonmyown.com/2014/01/04/usb-antminer-u1/

Then, the btc mining will start.

{USB-HUB}
If you running several AntMiner U1 together, then you need a usb-hub.
About the best usb-hub:
  • Usb 3.0 hub will be better.
  • Usb-hub with external power supply would be better.
  • It’s not true that, more ports usb-hub is better than the less ones. Actually, we test many usb-hub and it get the turth that: 10 ports usb-hub can’t get 10 miners running at the same time(max 5~7 miners); But the 4 ports usb-hub can get 4 miners running together.

In this guide, we use a 4-port usb 3.0 hub with a 12V/2.5A power supply and

{Trouble List}

  • Q: Setup the driver of the “CP210x_VCP_Windows”, open the software zadig_v2.0.1.162 and choose “Options -> List All Devices”, but after that, why can’t I find CP2102 USB to UART Bridge Controller
  • A: Plug the usb miner firstthen open “zadig_v2.0.1.162”

  • Q: I clicked “Replace Driver” of the “zadig_v2.0.1.162”, why the “cgminer” cannot recognize the miner?
  • A: Click Replace Drivertake out the usb miner, wait a second and plug it in again.

  • Q: Why the “cgminer” cannot recognize all the usb miners
  • A: Please make sure that your usb ports work.

  • Q: My usb ports are fine, why the “cgminer” cannot recognize all the usb miners
  • A: It’s possible that the power supply of the USB port of your computer is not enough for the operation of all the miners. We recommend you to use a usb-hub with external power supply (12V2.5A 4-port usb 3.0 hub will be best).
